A Leg to Stand On

Words & Music by Brad Cole

I've been headed down a darkened road ruled by ego and excess
I am blinded by the hurricane I've become
And I walked my way through empty days till you showed me how to give it away,
And now my demon's on the run.

To the top of the world, and leave my dark days far behind

Oh, I’m starting over again
All I needed was a leg to stand upon
And you’ve given me back my heart my friend

In my aimless flight I found my life on the other side of the world
Saw the struggle and pain through a young Siddhartha’s eyes
And thought I was free till you made me see
"It's not what you get, but what you give", like golden wings to fly,

To the top of the world, and leave my dark days far behind.

Oh, like starting over again
All I needed was a leg to stand up on
And you gave me back my heart my friend

In all that I’ve collected, tell me what more do I need?
Another ornamental elation, while half the world is bleeding?
Someone's out there praying for you but its so hard letting go
They say a rich man's heart is a ghetto
Well I see fountains flowing gold.

We get bruised and battered, and some get shattered by a world grown numb to the pain.
Do you stand and fight or close your eyes to hide?
When your rainbow flies don't be surprised, there's an army by your side, to follow you as you run.

To the top of the world, and leave the dark days far behind.
