Waiting For You

We had time, although far to go.
We broke down and moved
To the side of the road.

As summer's wane began
Seekers passed us one by one and stared
From their Caravans.

I didn't know how long,
But somehow, it never seemed wrong.

Now I'm waiting for you with nothing to do
You know I'm calling out for you and I keep on waiting

It's too hot to sleep,
We already had that big talk,
Which you'd eventually need.

With all your problems solved,
We sang empty in the car,
Oh, but still I didn't want to let you go.

I didn't know how long,
But somehow, it never seemed wrong.

Now I'm waiting for you, with nothing to do
You know I'm calling out to you and I keep waiting.
And the days pass like years,
There’s no virtue in standing still
Except the promises to be here
And then to take you home.

But you me dear, were meant for other plans.
You kissed me and you smiled,
And gave me something precious to hold.
And as I turned away I heard you say
"I love you" one last time,
But I could not let you see me crying.

We had time, I remember every scene, and every line.

While you've been gone,
Did you ever think that this was wrong,
Or think of me, sometimes?

I didn't know how long,
Oh, but somehow, it never seemed wrong.

Now I'm waiting for you, with nothing to do
You know I keep calling out to you and I keep waiting
And the days pass like years,
There’s no virtue in standing still
Except the promise to be here
And then to take you home. I'm still waitin', I'm still waitin'...
