I am back in New York City after a chilly but inspiring month in Nashville. One of my favorite things about New York is my midtown rehearsal space. While the city is awash in great food, it’s almost impossible to find quiet. My studio is in a big old office building full of rehearsal studios. It’s noisy, a pain to get to, full of graffiti, smells like dope and cigarettes and the elevator usually doesn't work. But once I'm inside, everything gets plugged in and I am enveloped in a rich symphony of sounds that are of my design. Sounds that are in the moment. Sounds that test my delights and distaste. I play mountains and I play snowflakes and add my waves to this urban soundscape. That is my escape and my sanity, and I am grateful for that 15 x15 space.
On The Road
Tonight! Friday, March 4th, Rahway NJ @ The Union County Performing Arts Center - Double Bill with the Abbie Gardner Tickets.
Swing Low Tour May-July 2016 - I am currently finalizing dates for the Swing Low Tour which will take us down the East Coast from Boston to Durham, followed by a week long swing through Texas and then finishing in the Midwest in June and early July. I’ll be including many guest artists along the way! If you are in may path and are interested in hosting a house concert or Dinner & Song, please reach out and lets have some fun! This show is significant because it marks an evolution for two veteran performers as they redefine their sound and performance with a stripped down, reimagined approach to their respective songbooks. New Jersey native Abbie Gardner is perhaps best known for her fiery dobro chops and soulful harmonies as one-third of the Americana sweetheart trio Red Molly. Abbie says, "What makes this show special for me? Well after being with Red Molly for 10 years, I’m stepping out of my comfort zone! Trying out new songs, new arrangements… sort of a vulnerable, very much 'in the moment' show for me." Red Molly announced their hiatus from touring late in 2015 but Gardner is still a force of nature in the folk/americana world and charging ahead with her solo career.
My new record Lay It Down is a fusion of Americana, Jazz and Soul - a grand production of strings and vibes, with a direct nod to Bacharach-era arrangements. While I'm preparing for my full ensemble record release shows in April, this show with Abbie Gardner presents another facet of my evolving palette. Teaming up with A-List Brazilian percussionist Rogerio Boccato and pedal steele master Philip Sterk, this trio will present a more a stripped down ambient approach to my material. I have always been a huge Bossa Nova fan, so this texture will be very present in the set. It’s cool to let these songs blossom with this line up's extraordinary musicianship as opposed to a traditional singer:songwriter focus. Abbie and I are friends so we want to have fun with this show and we have cooked up a few surprises as well!
April Lay It Down Release Tour!
With the official release of Lay It Down set for April 15th, I will play three special shows, in three cities dear to my heart to celebrate!

Nashville Show Announcement Coming Very Soon!
These shows are with a full ensemble eight piece band. Each city will have surprise guest artist joining us on stage. These shows are either premeditated chaos or a circus. I wish I was touring the world with this incredible band, but for now this is where you will find my heart and soul. If you don’t live in any of these towns, consider coming to join us for one of the shows and hanging for the after party. In fact, I’ll offer up a private house concert to anyone who makes all three shows!
Please be there for these incredibly special nights!
