I’ll admit it: I’m a sourpuss when it comes to the holidays. Too much shopping, too many crowds, too much eating, too much bullshit holiday music. I want to apologize to Jesus (or somebody should) for over-commercializing our season of joy and gratitude. But somewhere between the Old and New Testament, I guess we’ll be forgiven.
There are many great things in NYC during the holidays, but there is a lot of noise as well. The more I steer towards quiet, the more I am filled with that old feeling of love and gratitude, a genuine longing to cook, to share songs and stories with friends and family, schleps to the airport, walks in the park, a good laugh and cry with the ones I love. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for those who have stepped out to support me as an artist and have inspired me.
Very excited to be playing LA, Jan 23, The Hotel Café, 7pm followed by the amazing Erin Sax at 8pm. Full band and not to be missed!!!! This is a small venue and it will sell out. To buy tickets, click here.
Otherwise, not a lot of shows coming up. A lot of writing and a little exhaling before I hit the road again this spring. I’ve got two records in the works and some new videos, splitting my time between NYC and Nashville.
I spoke with some of you about writing personalized songs for you. Well, I am happy to announce I am part of the Downwrite family of songwriters, where we write and customize songs for our fans. Go to the website Downwrite.com and have a look around. You and I will discuss ideas, people, events, whatever, and I’ll write it and record it. Great stocking stuffer for the holiday season!!
Please stay in touch and please accept my thanks again for your support. You helped make 2013 a blowout year for me. You allowed me to be on the road, and helped me make a great record that has received critical acclaim. You helped me see new sides of the world in which I exist. You delivered inspiration to my door in spades. I hope I can deliver the same to you.
Happy and healthy holidays to you all.
